Photography: Andrea Mabry’s Warner Huh, M.D., has been awarded the American Cancer Society’s 2021 St. George National Award. This award is given to outstanding community volunteers in recognition of distinguished service to the American Cancer Society.
Huh was recognized as being a speaker, presenter, researcher and volunteer for the American Cancer Society for more than 23 years, notably serving on the 2019 cervical cancer guideline review committee and contributing to the research and development of the HPV vaccine.
Huh is a senior scientist in the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center and is the chair and professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the UAB Heersink School of Medicine. He is the fourth UAB physician to win the prestigious award since its inception in 1949; others include Mona Fouad, M.D., MPH, (2016); Edward E. Partridge, M.D., (1995); and Joseph A. Cunningham, M.D. (1982).
The award was presented to him at a reception in Wallace Tumor Institute on Tuesday, March 15.
