MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper has opened a 13,000-square-foot, multi-service outpatient unit on the top floor of its Camden ambulatory care building.
The unit, constructed at a cost of about $8.7 million in previously vacant shell space, will offer a variety of diagnostic and treatment services.
Kevin O’Dowd, co-CEO of Cooper University Health Care, said the project “demonstrates the increasing demand among New Jersey residents to receive advanced cancer care close to home.”
MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, created under a 2013 partnership between the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and Cooper, handled 122,045 outpatient visits last year. Its staff also oversaw 3,014 inpatient visits at neighboring Cooper University Hospital in 2021.
The new unit on the fourth floor of MD Anderson at Cooper will include:
The space, overall, consists of five open bays, one private bay, an exam room, a fluoroscopy room, a consultation room, a nurses’ station, and a provider collaboration room.
“We are excited to offer these new additions to our Camden outpatient center,” said Dr. Generosa Grana, director of the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. “They complement the wide range of diagnostic, treatment, and support services we already provide at this location, giving patients easy access to the key cancer services they need in one location.”
Cooper also this week opened a new imaging center in Cherry Hill through a partnership with University Radiology, a North Jersey-based medical imaging services provider.
The University Radiology at Cooper imaging center is on the ground floor of Cooper’s Cherry Hill campus on Route 70. University Radiology has more than 20 locations in the northern and central parts of the state. The partnership with Cooper created its first location in South Jersey.
